1979 Mitsubishi Colt Sapporo GSRGSL car with GSR engine and gearbox (converted from automatic to manual) manual choke fitted also. Can come with original GSL engine and gearbox for extra. Engine in the car is a 4G52 Astron 1 with twin carbsThe engine which came from a 1978 Sigma (AUS) on 61,000 miles shipped to the UK. The work it’s had is as follows,Fully stripped and hot washed. Crankshaft and con rods lightened and weight matched.Flywheel and front pulley lightened.Full rotating assembly balanced.ARP Rod, main and Head bolts.Custom grind camshaft by Newman cams to rally spec with a slight lope on idle has great power and a noticeable grunt on bottom end.Custom Inlet manifold with Yamaha YZF750 carbs jetted to run on 99ron with K&N air filter pods.Welded distributor fixed to 34 degrees of advanced with no pinking on Tesco momentum 99 anywhere in the rev range. Accuspark electronic ignition kit with 8mm silicone plug leads. New distributor cap, arm, plugs, water pump, thermostat and all gaskets.Extensively ported and polished cylinder head to give better flow and 9:5:1 compression. All clearances calculated during the build.Balance shaft deleted with kit from Australia.Beehive performance valve springs from the US. Valeo 3 piece clutch kit.4-1 equal length manifold with 1.75” primaries to 2.25” collector with lambda boss.Everything that could be bead blasted and cleaned, was and then painted, bead blasted aluminium was then lacquered.Bombproof 5 speed manual jap gearbox.Hurst gear linkage Engine was on 61,000 miles when rebuilt and covered 500 miles AFTER being rebuilt to run in before being shipped to the UK.Engine hasn’t even covered 5k miles!!!Underside of the car was stripped back during the build and fully undersealed, new brake pipes and bushes. Howmanyleft.com shows only 5 of these cars left on UK roads and I’m confident there certainly isn’t any with as much attention to detail… Continue reading...
