Here we have a unique, well-presented 1984 Toyota Corolla AE86 for sale. Having received a full shell restoration and respray in 2012, since then this car has had the best of parts, expert development and setting up to make it a competitive sprint car.It has contested in a number of Motorsport UK sprint events over the last three years, attaining a number of top-three class results – against a field of mostly 2,000cc vehicles. Its current setup would suit multiple motorsport disciplines. It could easily be rallied or join a race series with some new seats, belts and a plumbed-in fire system. Its present guise complies fully with the B10 Modified, UK sprint class.Featuring a tuned 4AGE 16V engine that produces reliable mid-range power, adjustable suspension and a purposeful lightweight body, from Sunday drives to hardened racing, this Corolla is a true driver’s car and the perfect all-rounder for enthusiasts.So, on to the restoration. All visible rust was meticulously cut out and professionally replaced with fresh steel, where required. The shell overall is in excellent, solid condition for its age. Some rust in the rear chassis legs is now present – I have protected them from further corrosion for now. This was a job I had planned to rectify next. There are some minor scratches, scuffs and dents to the paintwork – to be expected from a ten-year-old spray job, coupled with a car that’s been used purposefully. However, the slate-grey colour shines up beautifully and is a real head-turner wherever the car goes. You’ll go a long way to find a shell as solid and mindfully preserved as this one.Garaged most of its life, despite being a sprint car it’s cleaned after every event underneath, washed and polished throughout. I have had this Corolla in my possession for nearly 11 years now, as the only UK-registered owner. It’s never been driven on salty UK roads. I have dozens of photos of the restoration that can be shared, upon request.
