2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (Evo 7) in French Blue.Imported and Registered in 2002.Approx 74,000 miles (clocks were replaced in the past but fully documented and stamped in service records by the garage that did it).HPI Clear.As the title describes, this is a project car that needs work to restore it back its former glory.I brought this off an old friend who owned this for around 10+ years, with the last 4 being stored away off the road. Unfortunately due his personal circumstances he has been forced to sell so I took it on.My intentions were to do whatever work needed doing myself, but having over 5+ projects on at the moment, I’ve decided I need to get rid of at least 2-3 or they quite literally they will never get done. So while I would love to complete this one too, I simply don’t have the time and therefore I am selling for someone else to fix up and enjoy!What I’ve found needs doing:- The main thing I’ve noticed is that coolant has been mixing with oil. I have done a compression test (got pics) and that came out good and consistent across all 4 cylinders, but the engine will definitely need flushing out at the minimum.- Further investigations have led me to believe that coolant/oil has mixed in the turbo core (which also explains why compression was good). It looks seized and is also leaking from the oil feed pipe. This 100% needs replacement.- As the car has been sat for 4 years, I would definitely recommend a full front to back fluid flush and full brake service.- Needs some paintwork doing around the rear quarters and boot-lid.- The coil-pack wiring is all over the place and needs sorting, which is causing misfire on 2 cylinders.For the rest of… Continue reading...
