1998 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 5 GSR. What is it? A 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V. 4WD Rally inspired road going rocket with a 2.0 276 BHP turbocharged motor. The previous EVOs were good – but the Evolution V is the incarnation of the model that really put the car on the map. The new body mods had been made with the world Rally Championship’s Group A regulations in mind. The use of new front and rear bumpers and modified side skirts and rear apron. The front air-dam was a new design, and the rear spoiler had become even more outrageous than before, with an adjustable four position blade to change the attack angle. 1998 was Mitsubishi’s most successful year in rally motorsports. With the Evolution V platform, Mitsubishi finally claimed the WRC Manufacturers’ Championship, which had eluded them for five years. Tommi Makinen played a large role in this victory, as he himself took the WRC Driver’s Championship. What's it got?
