But when it comes to true rarity from the marque, this 1995 Impreza WRX STi Ver II 555 Edition WAGON stands atop the podium.Conceived by Subaru as a limited-run model to celebrate Colin McRae’s impressive Drivers’ Championship and Subaru’s Manufacturers title win for the 1995 World Rally Championship (WRC) season, just 600 WRX STi 555 Editions were produced and sold in Japan - with only 100 in wagon form.Distinguished by its iconic Rally or Monte Carlo Blue paint (code 53C), twin rear spoilers and contrasting gold wheels, all 555 Edition vehicles gained further enhancements over the standard vehicle including an STi close-ratio gearbox, STi front strut brace, and water sprayer for the intercooler. Driving all four wheels, via its 5-speed manual the Subaru Tecnica International fettled 2.0 litre, flat, four boxer engine developed 202W at 6,500rpm and 319Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.With such limited numbers built in this iconic colour and even less in this body style, this 555 Edition STi is a reminder of Subaru’s legendary rallying pedigree.
